CE Requirements
Acupuncturists Athletic Trainers Clinical Laboratory Dietitians, Nutritionists and Nutrition Counselors Electrologists Licensed Midwives Massage Therapists Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapist Assistants Opticians Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants Respiratory Therapists School Psychologists Social Workers, Marriage and Family Counselors and Mental Health Therapists CE Requirements for Acupuncturists Acupuncturists, who are licensed in Florida, must complete 30 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years. As part of this 30 contact hours, you must take 2 hours in the Prevention of Medical Errors and 2 hours of AIDS/HIV or End of Life: Palliative Care, 5 hours of laboratory test findings, 3 hours of imaging findings, 2 hours of Florida Laws and Rules, and 16 general hours. CE Requirements for Athletic Trainers Athletic Trainers, who are licensed in Florida, must complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years . As part of these 24 contact hours, you must take at least 2 hours in the Prevention of Medical Errors, 1 to 2 hours of AIDS/HIV and 4 hours of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid training, all of which must be approved by the Florida Board of Athletic Trainers. CE Requirements for Clinical Laboratory Clinical Laboratory Personnel Directors, Clinical Laboratory Personnel Supervisors, Clinical Laboratory Personnel Technicians and Clinical Laboratory Personnel Technicians, who are licensed in Florida, must take 2hours in the Prevention of Medical Errors and 1 hour of AIDS/HIV education. CE Requirements for Dietitians, Nutritionists and Nutrition Counselors Dietitians, Nutritionists and Nutrition Counselors, who are licensed in Florida, must complete 30 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years . As part of these 30 contact hours, you must have at least 1 hour in AIDS/HIV, 2 hours in Preventing Medical Errors with a Florida State Board approved course, such as Alene Burke & Associates approved courses. Up to 10 hours may be in management, risk management, personal growth, and educational techniques and up to 15 hours can be taken with approved home study courses, such as our online classes.. CE Requirements for Electrologists Electroligists, who are licensed in Florida, must complete 20 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years. As part of this 20 contact hours, you must take no fewer than and no more than 2 hours on blood-borne diseases including 1 hour on HIV/AIDS education and 2 hours in the Prevention of Medical Errors. Up to 10 hours of home study, online classes can be taken. CE Requirements for Licensed Midwives Licensed midwives, licensed in Florida, must complete 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years. As part of these 20 contact hours, at least 1 contact hour of AIDS/HIV, 1 contact hour of Domestic Violence, 2 contact hours of Preventing Medical Errors and 1 contact hour of Laws and Rules must be completed. These courses must be given through a Florida State Board approved provider, such as Alene Burke & Associates. Courses that have been approved by a Florida Board of Nursing provider meet these requirements. All courses listed for licensed midwives have been approved by the Florida State Council of Licensed Midwifery. CE Requirements for Massage Therapists Massage Therapists, who are licensed in Florida, must complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years. In addition to these 24 hours, you must take a course in AIDS/HIV. As part of these 24 contact hours, you must take 2 hours in the Prevention of Medical Errors, 2 hours in Professional Ethics, 2 hours in Florida Laws and Rules, and at least 12 hours must be relevant to and focus on massage therapy techniques, which may include the history of massage, human anatomy & physiology, kinesiology and/or pathology. All these courses must be taken with a Florida Board of Massage Therapy approved provider. CE Requirements for Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapist Assistants Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapist Assistants, who are licensed in Florida, must complete 26 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years. As part of these 26 contact hours, you must have at least 1 hour of AIDS/HIV that is a Florida State Board approved AIDS/HIV course, such as our online course OR a 1 hour course in End of Life Care: Palliative Care if you have taken a 2 hour AIDS/HIV course in the immediately preceding biennium, as well as at least 2 hours in the Prevention of Medical Errors and 2 hours of Laws and Rules for Occupational Therapy with an approved Florida Board of Occupational Therapy continuing education provider. Up to 12 hours of home study, including our online classes, can be taken. CE Requirements for Opticians Licensed Opticians and Board Certified Opticians, who are licensed in Florida, must take 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years. As part of this 20 contact hours, you must take 1 hour of AIDS/HIV, 2 hours of the Prevention of Medical Errors, 2 hours of Florida Laws and Rules, 13 hours that are directly related to technical practice of which 1 hour must be in contact lens theory and practice and 2 elective hours relating to business administration. A maximum of 5 hours can be taken with other than live classes. CE Requirements for Respiratory Therapists Registered and certified respiratory therapists, and respiratory practitioners in critical care and non-critical care, licensed by Florida, must complete 24 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years. As part of these 24 contact hours, at least 1 contact hour of AIDS/HIV, and 2 contact hours of Preventing Medical Errors must be completed. The Preventing Medical Errors course must consist of the following components:
